I love catching up with some of my favorite book characters. Honestly I would probably read anything that continued a story I loved.
This is the first of a three part serial and it was short and sweet. Cash and Olivia are married but having trouble getting pregnant, when an old girlfriend, Sophie, shows up and says that Cash has a 9 year old daughter. There's lots a questions being asked about the truth of her statements and what her and Cash's past really is.
A couple of things that had me scratching my head:
1. Did I miss a novella or did I just completely miss the end of the last book or something? It felt like I was dropped in mid conversation after Sophie showed up at Christmas. I felt like I missed a pivotal moment somewhere.
2. Who is Sophie? It seems like I should know her but it's obvious Olivia doesn't so maybe I didn't miss her before?
3. I know it's a serial and therefore short with a cliffhanger, but it felt like it stopped at the end of a chapter instead of the end of a book. There didn't seem to be much happening besides questioning Sophie's sincerity.
That said, it's obvious Cash and Olivia are still head over heels in love with each other. It seems like they're putting on a united front in regards to Sophie and this long lost daughter (if she really even is his daughter). There's lots of angst and suspicion going around and I haven't stopped thinking about how this story will develop. I'm hoping for no stupid drama but Cash is already holding lots of things close to the vest and away from Olivia so things could get ugly but I hope not. Whether the kid is Cash's or not, I wanna smack Sophie for lots of things like trying to pull one over on Olivia and keeping a kid away for NINE years.
Im definitely on the edge of my seat for the next installment. Hopefully some questions will be answered and Olivia will show Sophie who's in charge.

Reunited with a favorite couple

First let me say you really need to have read the "Bad Boy" series, as well as "A Davenport Christmas" to understand this story! This first installment picks up at the cliffhanger we were left with in the Christmas book. Each of the 3 novellas are actually all part of 1 book (incidentally Ms. Leighton is publishing this in even smaller increments weekly on her website each Friday. You must subscribe to her site to receive the password to access them, though the subscription is free.), so expect the first 2 to end without resolution. It is my understanding that the 3 novellas will be released as one full novel, perhaps in August (but don't quote me on that date).
All that said, I am so happy to have Cash and Olivia back! It is a bit stressful at times knowing that Sophie is up to no good, but Cash is nobody's fool and is not just taking Sophie's word for things. Although Olivia is hurt and anxious due to Sophie's arrival and bombshell announcement, she rallies quickly and cautiously urges Cash to get to know his "daughter". I think it is clear to everyone that Sophie is up to something (getting Cash back for sure), but her end game is unclear at this point.
I love, love, LOVE Ms. Leighton's books and Cash and Olivia are one of my favorite couples, so I'm so excited to catch up with them! I have it on good authority (I emailed the author) that Cash and Olivia will get their HEA...soon, I hope. If you have read the other books in this series you will love these as well! On a side note, a new character (not Sophie or her daughter) is introduced later in this book and he will be a central character in M. Leighton's new series that comes out August 4, 2015…so if you're a fan of her books get ready to meet her newest Alpha hero! Happy reading!!!

Awe more cash, with a sprinkling of Nash thrown in.
I started reading the chapters as they were appearing on Michelle's website, but flipping life got in the way so I was delighted they were then released for kindle.
Happy to get more Cash & Olivia with everything moving along nicely, she wanted to complete their family by giving Cash a baby, heartbreaking when pregnancy doesn't happen immediately. I cannot even begin to understand that feeling, my hubby only had to look at me to get me pregnant.
Then when superbitch arrives, spoiling what was a lovely Christmas meal, all Olivia's calming nature took a hike, then her poor father has to have heart surgery, Olivia was such a trooper even though she though her world as she knew it was collapsing, Cash's love for her never faltered. They have and share a great love.
There were things amiss with Sophie, the ex and Isabella, the little girl brought back into Cash's life under the impression that she is his daughter, even looking like Cash, they firmly believe she is his daughter only causing Olivia to feel that disheartened that she wasn't the one to give Cash his first child.
I loved how Olivia was able to overcome these feelings and help Cash adjust to being a father. Cash and Olivia were/are a formidable team.
Even when the DNA clinic gets totaled, they still find a way of getting to the truth.
I loved how carefree Isabella was around Cash & Olivia and became subdued around her mother.
OOH, Jason King and I gust notice he's getting his own book, hmmmm he was a hunky go-getter had ways of extracting information.
After a great weekend, Cash & Olivia get an agonising phone call, that's when they find out the truth and are left dealing with the aftermath of a conniving Sophie.
