Gorgeous, Quality Book From the Grimm Series - Buy it Now at This Low Price!

First, buy this book if you are a fan of the series -- it is a keeper. You will be sorry later if they go out of print or go up in price.

Although the book is beautiful, glossy, with gorgeous drawings, etc. from the series, I was disappointed in the lack listings of some of the Wesen characters in the series. They are crossed off = X'd out in the Wesen Index. Especially since the Bauerschwein were featured in 11/8/13 episode as major characters in a feud with the Blutbaden (Monroe's Wesen character). Even Rosalie's Fuchsbau Wesen character is X'd out in the Wesen Index ("table of contents"). A total of 107 titles are listed including Wesen and, of those, twenty-seven are X'd out and not in the book. I wrote to Titan Books (to their readerfeedback email address given in the back of the book) and let them know. My question was: are only the Wesen listed that the Grimm have killed or who are dangerous? The Baueschwein were definitely dangerous in the recent episode.

To fans of the series (of which I am one):
In any case, don't delay purchase of this book - especially at this current price - you will love it.

A must-have for fans of "Grimm"

As any true Grimmster knows, Nick Burkhardt would have been lost without access to Aunt Marie's trailer and book of lore when he first discovered he was a Grimm. Now fans of the show can own their own copy of the book and learn even more about the Wesen Nick deals with everyday.

Written in mostly German, there are entries recorded in Spanish and Japanese; each entry has been translated into English for the general reader. Full color images of several of the Wesen are included alongside the pen and ink drawings of those Grimm who first observed the ferocious beasts dating as far back as the 1600s.

Beautiful!

This book is a Christmas present for my daughter who is a huge Grimm fan. She will love it! The book is gorgeous and beautifully detailed. One caveat- the pictures really are like those on the show so young children may be disturbed if they flip through this.

Alexander Hamilton, America sings for you

I've been eagerly awaiting the vocal selections since I first saw "Hamilton" last August, and for the most part it does not disappoint. 17 songs are included in their full, uncut performance versions with all solo and ensemble vocals. The piano arrangements (by composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and the show's brilliant musical director, Alex Lacamoire) effectively track the show's orchestrations and are not for beginners but also not beyond a good sight-reader. Note that the piano part is accompaniment, not meant for a solo - so you can either sing along (out loud or in your head), have someone else sing, or just play the vocal line in place of the right-hand arrangement.

I do feel some letdown at the songs that are not included, most particularly the Act One closer "Non-Stop," the Act Two closer "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story," "The Story of Tonight," and the eminently singable "Say No To This." (Some of the other omissions are more understandable, as they rely more on rhythm than orchestration and would be difficult to transcribe.) And it would have been nice to include a few production photographs at the front (for a dazzling array of those, you'll have to pick up Hamilton: The Revolution). But what's here is so good that it's hard to quibble, and I know I will enjoy many hours at the piano recreating my experience of this astonishing musical.

and I can't play them from a larger screen like a tablet because they're much too blurry

Rating this five stars for the content, but a warning: DO NOT purchase the Kindle version of this. I don't even know why it's offered. I bought it because I thought it would save me a few dollars under the (very mistaken) assumption that there would be some way to read this music in a way to play the piano parts from it. However, on screens larger than a phone, the sheet music is VERY blurry, and I can't find any way to make it both large and clear. I can't play piano parts from my phone without hunching over and squinting, and I can't play them from a larger screen like a tablet because they're much too blurry.

I suppose there may be some method that I'm simply unaware of, but as far as I can tell, the Kindle edition of this songbook is completely and utterly useless, a waste of my $10.

If you love Hamilton and want to have the official sheet music, definitely make this purchase. The hard copy is, I'm sure, absolutely worth the money. But unless I'm missing something important in how to use Kindle editions of books, DO NOT buy the Kindle version.

If anyone who sees this knows of a way I can access the digital book in a way that is conducive to performing, please kindly let me know.

A Must-Have for all of us Hamilton-obsessed!

Anything Lin-Manuel Miranda puts his hand to is amazing beyond belief - and this is no exception. If, like me, you are in love with All Things Miranda, you simply must have this. The only reason I took off one star is actually my little quibble with Amazon's pricing. I pre-ordered this at $16.99 - the day it arrived, the price dropped to $11.99, then $12.30, now $11.99 again. I don't understand why the price should drop 25 or 30% right after I pre-order. It doesn't seem right. Incidentally, this is a very full, fat, rich book of selections - I brought it to Staples for them to cut and bind, which I do with all my music. It makes it so much easier to not be fighting to keep it open. Anyhow, if you are obsessed with Hamilton, as is Yours Truly, you must have this - at ANY price!

UPDATE: Amazon, you amaze and astonish! I got an email from you today, telling me of a $5.41 refund due to the price having dropped after release. Well, shut my mouth. How could I ever have doubted you? I'm changing my 4 stars to 5, if it lets me. Thanks so much!

Excellent resource for educators!

"Promoting Positive Racial Teacher Student Classroom Relationships" by Derrick Campbell is a great resource for anyone working in a school setting, especially teachers. I grew up in a town of 2,000 people, 99% were white. This book opened my eyes to what seems to be a growing problem of students (as well as teachers) of different races not being treated equally. I agree that servant leadership requires self-mastery before organizational achievement is possible. Further I agree that personal mastery is a process that will enable someone, a teacher in this case, to change strategies to the one appropriate and necessary to make it though the situation at hand. I think the Ethical Decision-Making Process looks like a fantastic resource. It asks many thought-provoking questions that I believe, if answered honestly, would lead a teacher to the best possible situation outcome. I am glad this book addressed substitute teachers who should also be informed of how these positive relationships can be improved and applied in the various classroom settings they will interact in as well. This is a great resource that I would encourage all teachers everywhere to read.

Good for Anyone in the Education Field

As a product of public schooling, I personally didn't see any problems with student-teacher relationships due to race. I know it exists from being a volunteer when my own children were in public school. I believe everyone from the cafeteria workers to the principal can benefit from "Promoting Positive Racial Teacher-Student Classroom Relationships".
Dr. Campbell's ability to use his own experiences is a great asset to helping the reader relate to what he is trying to accomplish. I applaud his efforts to get teachers to see that their efforts to work together to accomplish a positive environment rather than being uncooperative among each other is more beneficial to our educational system as well. If there are racial issues among the staff, there is certain to be even more among the students and in the teacher-student interactions.
I believe Dr. Campbell's book embraces much more than just racial issues among students and teachers and highly recommend it to parents as well as any educational staff member. Getting a different perspective on a situation is always beneficial.

The challenges of being an educator have greatly increased over time. There are numerous aspects to consider in achieving the best education for all students. Promoting Positive Racial Teacher-Student Classroom Relationships by Derrick L. Campbell is an excellent source for strengthening the relationships between educators and their students of different races. Also, many of the principles discussed could relate too many of the problems found with all student/teacher relationships. The author shows with extensive research and studies ways to promote a better educational environment and reduced disciple. The students responded with positive behaviors. Any teacher would benefit by reading this book and applying it to his or her classroom. It is well written, easy to follow and the author backs up all his claims. I also liked that he included room at the back to take notes and jot to jot down answers to questions he presents.

Loved It!

We used this text for my Cultural Diversity course and I decided to keep it when the course ended. The articles are brief, interesting, and to the point. I found the one by Michael Moore really gave insight to his documentary experiences and why his life went the way that it did. I would have liked to see some information on weight discrimination, but this book really does what it should and makes some very important points.

Good information, but not particularly well written

I totally agree with the reviewer that said the sections tend to run together and aren't laid out real well. The information seems to come at you haphazardly. It reminds me of getting information second-hand from an aunt. One is always left wondering if she's remembering to explain it all.
I understood the Hay Diet before I read this book, and I think that may be a good thing. While the basic diet is shown in a single chart on page 12, it is so basic that I wonder if readers will understand. The really helpful chart is on page 98, which again breaks down the basic diet.
Chapters 2,3 and 4 are about using the diet to treat various ailments. While that may be true, I felt that the diet wasn't yet satisfactorily explained. Those chapters, it seems to me, should have been at the end of the book.
On the other hand, the book is chock-full of really practial advice for implementing the diet as a lifestyle. There are many menus, with an emphasis on creating your own menu ideas.
I suspect that I will refer to the book again and again as I search for more food ideas.

Jackie Habgood's book The Hay Diet Made Easy is just that--an easy to read and understand book on the theory and practice of William H. Hay's food combining diet. While there are other books available, this is perhaps the best for someone new to method, as well as those who suffer from various ailments to which our esteemed medical establishment often turns a blind eye. The only drawback to Ms. Habgood's work is the actual layout of the sections: these tend to run together without a definite sense of division. However, whether for reference (her charts are great) or inspiration or learning, this book is truly the only book one would need to purchase.

I LOVE this book!

I initially got Kathryn Marsden's little book on Food Combining which is a great beginner (explainer). This one goes into much more detail but still keeps everything so simple. Once you learn the premise, you can honestly create or adjust every recipe you already have and use. This book also gave information about medical conditions that respond favorably when we stop mixing all foods together at the same time. This information could help keep you out of the doctors office. My friend with diabetes is thriving on this program. You could honestly have more time, money and health to do what you really enjoy!

Leaves me wanting more

This series is very descriptive of daily life and believes of ancient Egyptians, raced through the first four and am anticipating all future entries. Can't wait to see what happens next, hope I don't have to wait too long to see what is in store for these wonderful characters, who are so strong yet vulnerable. If you love ancient Egyptian lore as I do, you won't be disappointed in this series.
